Breathe in fresh air on a relaxing drive through the historic countryside. Chef and food writer Cynthia Peters welcomes you then whisks you off to local farms to pick the season’s best produce for your cooking class. Ingredients in hand, you cross the threshold of an 1830s farmhouse kitchen to prepare a menu of traditional favourites. After lunch, Cynthia serves as your guide to local wineries to sample award-winning wines. Afterward, you drink in the works on display at the Oeno Gallery. Located on the Huff Estates Inn & Winery property, the light-filled space is home to fine contemporary art and sculpture. The sculpture garden serves as a reminder that the aesthetics of food, wine and art pair very well indeed.

  • Summer (June to early September) in Ontario is warm and ideal for swimming, cycling, hiking, paddling and summer festivals. Fall (late September to November) brings cool, dry temperatures, great for hiking and photographing the spectacle of Fall leaves. Spring (late March to May) sees gardens in bloom and the start of fishing season. Winter (late November to early March) offers ample skiing, skating, snowmobiling and great winter festivals.

When to go
  • The winery is open year-round.
  • High season in summer runs from June through early September, with July typically the warmest month of the year. Enjoy wine tours, a special tasting event, sailing, beaches and local theatre.
  • Spring means blooming flowers, cycling and world-class birding; it's also a great time to tour the area's 30 wineries by bike and enjoy a month-long celebration of dining at down to earth prices.
  • Fall brings the harvest, fairs and festivals from September to October.
  • Warm up in Winter with wine tastings, snowshoeing, and even ice fishing.
